I learned about “Non-Scale Victories” (NSV) a few years ago and thought they were great ways to measure progress and get positive reinforcement on any health and wellness journey.
Although the scale is a helpful tool, it is definitely not the only one. And sometimes a scale change (or lack of!) doesn’t accurately reflect a positive change in health. The scale isn’t the only game in town!
Fortunately, I’ve had many NSV during my wellness endeavor – important and encouraging changes that I’ve noticed along the way. These include improvements in my health and other significant milestones that are personally meaningful or ones that I didn’t even realize were important until I reached them!
Whenever I’m feeling discouraged, seeing my Non-Scale Victories provides me inspiration, encouragement, and hope. So, I thought I would keep a running list of my NSV’s in case they can provide inspiration and encouragement to others. I will continue adding to this list.

- My blood pressure is normal! – Day #57: For the first time in years, my blood pressure was normal – just through diet and weight loss!
- Crossing my legs! – Day #76: As silly as it may sound, finally being able to cross my legs has was a small, but significant, milestone.
- Being able to balance all my weight on the ball of one foot – Day #89: Balance is one of the fitness markers I follow. When I started, I couldn’t support my weight on the ball of one foot. Now my fitness has improved and I am able to.
- Size 18 jeans! – Day #94: Fitting into size 18 jeans.
