I just completed another fitness update, and I’ll report more in detail tomorrow. But I was so excited with this news and wanted to report it first:
My Blood Pressure Is Normal!!
Yes – 8 weeks into this wellness endeavor, and for the first time got a normal blood pressure reading: 114/79.
Hooray!!
When I started this wellness endeavor, my blood pressure readings were in the 140’s/80’s. I know that this wasn’t a terribly high number to start, but it was definitely abnormal. My blood pressure has been hovering around this probably over the last few years. And it put me squarely into the Pre-hypertension / Hypertension I category, which was a bit of a shock to me.
My blood pressure was also high enough to worry my primary care doctor. (She even took it a couple times at my last visit in both arms, which has never happened before). But – I told her that I was in the process of losing weight and getting healthier by eating a low-carb diet. She seemed ok with this and with just monitoring my pressure for the time being. I definitely wanted to avoid any blood pressure medication if possible.
Now with the changes in my diet by using a ketogenic approach and some weight loss, I have normalized my blood pressure. My blood pressure is officially within the recommended normal range. Wow — that feels good.
I have made a significant impact on my health. And I did it through changing my diet.
I have to say I would definitely consider this another Non-Scale Victory. Probably one of the most important ones so far, since it is a direct reflection of my improving health and has huge positive implications for my future wellbeing.
