Welcome to my Wellness Endeavor!
As a 40 year-old woman who’s struggled her entire life with being overweight and less than healthy, I decided to blog about what will (hopefully!) be my final journey towards improved and sustained health. This will include weight loss and other health improvements, such as better fitness.
My starting weight: 305.8 pounds
From my starting point of 305.8 pounds, I realize that this will be a long and challenging process. I have never been optimally healthy and have lost and regained hundreds of pounds over the course of my life.
And yet I find myself at the beginning, again. Obviously something has to change, but it has to change for good.
This process is not just about losing weight, achieving a specific size, or appearing a certain way. My goal is achieving lasting health and wellness which comes in many different shapes and sizes.
But — I know being at this weight is a symptom of poor underlying health which can mean major health issues down the road.
I remain hopeful.
I have never blogged before and am not particularly tech savvy; in fact, I may be one of the few people in the country not on social media! But I wanted the combination of my improved health, weight loss experience and this blog to have four main goals:
Goals
- Track my progress and see what works.
- Keep me accountable.
- Assist and inspire others with similar struggles.
- Provide me and others ongoing health & wellness education.
This process is not just about losing weight, achieving a specific size, or appearing a certain way. The goal is lasting health and wellness which comes in many different shapes and sizes. Click To Tweet
I live in the Northeast and my full-time day job is in healthcare industry, where I have worked for years. (A huge irony I realize, given my current health status).
Although today I work in a lab, I used to interact regularly with patients. During that time, I regularly saw the toll that obesity and other chronic health conditions took on people. Physically, emotionally, financially – no aspect of life is immune to these difficulties. And this is something I know all too well from personal experience.
Fortunately, I haven’t yet developed significant chronic metabolic diseases associated with obesity. The key word being yet. If I don’t make a lasting change, I’m sure they are just around the corner.
This is more motivation to make some changes now.
Although my endeavor is a life-long process, I will start with just the first 100 days – a goal that seems attainable and not too overwhelming.
To start: for the first 100 days, I will drastically change my eating habits.
I also hope to learn, to change, and to develop better lifelong habits.
During this time, I will document and share my experiences with the weight I lose, the health I gain, and any helpful information that I learn through my research and education. And because my full-time day job is in health care at a large company, I’ll have to blog pseudo-anonymously for now.
My goal is to find answers to my many questions – answers that I hope will help me (and any others who stumble across these pages) attain long-lasting wellness. It is time to take back our health.
So — welcome to anyone who happens to find this blog about one woman’s wellness endeavor!
Start here if you’d like to begin at my beginning.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Here I hope to document my journey of weight loss and improved health and wellness. The blog is set up into several sections:
- My Weight Loss Diary: This includes my day to day posts that include my weight. I posted regularly during the first 100 days, then sporadically for several months, and then regularly again during the second 100 days and beyond. It also includes the 8 guidelines that I use on my wellness endeavor.
- Weight Loss Graph & Stats: Here I keep the updated statistics on my weight loss and fitness, include my weight loss graph, my weight loss chart, my body measurements, and my fitness level markers.
- My Shrinking Pants: This is a photo of shrinking pants – from my largest size to the smaller sizes I fit into.
- Recommendations: Here I list resources that have been helpful to me over the years as I continue to read and learn more about health and wellness. This includes websites, book, food and products.
- Non-Scale Victories: Probably more important than the scale, non-scale victories are other ways to see improved health and wellness. And they can serve as inspiration when you’re discouraged.
- Health & Wellness: This category includes basic information in general topics, diet and health, fasting, and exercise & fitness.
- The Ketogenic Diet: I happen to be using this nutritional approach, and so this category includes updated information about the ketogenic diet.
