Summer is basically over, and the weather here in the Northeast has started to cool a bit, although we still have some unusually warm days. I enjoy the summer, but not the uncomfortable hot, humid days.
When you’re overweight, carrying around so many extra pounds can make the hot weather that much worse. All the discomfort is magnified. You’re always looking for the welcome relief of air conditioning while avoiding being outside as much as possible. At least that has been my experience.
This morning, it was a bit cooler and I decided to try on a smaller pair of jeans. Some of my size 24’s had definitely gotten roomy – although I hadn’t really been wearing jeans or pants in the summer.
So in the morning, I headed into my closet and grabbed the size 22 from my range of sizes.
And guess what?
They fit! My size 22 jeans fit!!
And they weren’t too tight. So here I am on Day #12 wearing a size 22.
My size 24 pants and jeans had definitely gotten big in the last few weeks, especially since I bought them when I was heavier, about 310 pounds (and closer to my highest weight of 328 pounds when they were definitely tight). But, it is still great to be in a smaller size.
And fortunately, I am keeping track of my measurements as well, so I’ll have the tape measure telling me I’m smaller as well.
A few years ago, I was reading either a book or a blog on weight loss, and came across the term “non-scale victory”. I had never heard the term before, but thought it was very clever and true, and a nice way to celebrate the non-scale progress of weight loss and health gain.
So, here is my first Non-Scale Victory – a smaller pair of jeans!
Before I know it, I will leave the land of the 20’s … for good. And in this moment, I am thrilled with this accomplishment and don’t even care what the scale says.
Day #12:
