First Meaningful Mini-Goal Achieved!
This morning, I reached my first Meaningful Mini-Goal of 277.9 pounds!!
You may remember that I set this goal earlier in this wellness endeavor. I chose this number because 278 pounds was the lowest weight I remember being about 2 years ago. And 277.9 is just under 278.
So this morning, I finally reached my goal — actually I beat it by 0.3 pounds — for the first time. Needless to say, I was quite excited and happy about this. I know that with my daily weight fluctuations, I will likely go above 277.9 again before staying permanently under it, but that’s ok.
This is the first time in two years that I have seen a number that low on the scale.
Reaching this goal gives me such motivation and encouragement to continue with this process. Having these smaller, meaningful goals is also really helpful I think.
There are definitely times that I get discouraged and lose hope – mainly because getting healthy can seem so daunting. And also because I have been on this path so many times before, and never been permanently successful.
Meaningful Mini-Goal #2
I’m now excited to set my second Meaningful Mini-Goal.
In the past during weight loss efforts, I have often recorded and tracked my weights in different, sometimes random, places – like personal calendars or excel work sheets or homemade charts.
I looked back to records from a few years ago just to see what my weight was doing, and was shocked by what I found. I had a 50 pound gain in a three month period. And this was actually recorded, so it’s not the figurative 50 pounds we all refer to. Here is the recording:
I still can’t believe it. A 50.4 pound weight gain in almost exactly 3 months.
When this happened, why wasn’t I alarmed?? Didn’t I think there was an underlying problem that needed to be addressed? I don’t remember having any of these concerns or questions.
I try to remember the circumstances around this time, but it’s hard. There was definitely an unhappy job situation that I ultimately changed. But of course that couldn’t have been the only issue.
However, I do remember starting another weight loss effort when I recorded that 269.6 pounds. Per my records, it only lasted a few months. And needless to say, it was not successful.
Meaningful Mini-Goal #2:
269.6 pounds
Regardless, today is today. I can’t change my yesterday – only learn from it to shape my tomorrow. I am now on this new quest for permanent health and wellness. And even if it is a bumpy road, so far I am achieving it.
Meaningful Mini-Goal #2 is 269.6 pounds: the exact weight I was on July 21, 2014, almost three-and-a-half years go. From today’s weight, that’s only 8 pounds to go.
269.6 pounds, here I come!
Day #65:
Current weight: 277.6 lbs
Total weight loss: 28.2 lbs
