Current weight: 268 lbs,
Total weight loss: 37.8 lbs.
Day 100: from 305.8 to 268 pounds.
This morning, my weight was 268 pounds. Exactly 37.8 pounds less than when I started 100 days ago on a ketogenic diet with some intermittent fasting. (And 60 pounds less than my highest weight of 328 pounds!!)
The weight loss is great and of course was one of the goals. But there have be SO many other benefits that I’ve achieved over these 100 days.
Below I’ve listed some of the positive achievements over the last 100 days. In a follow-up post in the next day or two, I’ll recap more specifically how I did following my 8 guidelines.
1. Weight Loss: 37.8 Pounds Gone!
I started this wellness endeavor at 305.8 pounds (yikes!) and on Day 100 I am now 268 pounds. Obviously there is still more to go, but even 38 pounds is a significant amount of weight loss that has had a huge impact on my health.
An average loss of 0.38 pounds a day on a ketogenic diet.
As I mentioned above, what may be even more exciting is that from my all time high of 328 pounds, I have lost a total of 60 pounds. Waahoo!
2. Clothing Size: Down Three Sizes!
I started wearing a size 24 and am now a size 18. Down 3 sizes (and out of the 20’s)!
Before starting this process, I purchased the same jeans in sizes 14 through 24. I know that seems a bit crazy, but I really wanted to see how my actual size would change using jeans made of the same brand and cut.
And I’m glad I did – it’s been exciting and inspiring to see!
My Incredible Shrinking Jeans!
3. Measurements: 47.75 Inches Lost!
Since the start, I’ve lost a total of 47.75 inches over my entire body. Which to me seems just incredible.
Almost 4 feet lost…and hopefully never to be found!
During this process I measured multiple parts of my body every 3 weeks or so to see how things are changing, including my arm, chest, waist, hip and thigh, which are included below.
4. Fitness Markers: Overall Improved Fitness!
I realize I’m still not very fit. Trust me, I have no delusions about that. BUT….I am definitely more fit than I was 100 days ago. This is great news and something to be proud of.
As part of this process, I’ve been tracking some basic fitness markers. This is another way for me to measure the positive changes that are happening to my health as I change my nutrition and habits. My cardiovascular health is better and my endurance has improved (still pretty lousy for my age, but at least it’s going in the right direction..)
But the one that I am most excited about and proud of is the change in my blood pressure.
I went from being in the Pre-Hypertension / Hypertension I category to a completely normal blood pressure.
And this resulted through completely changing my diet. It’s empowering and enlightening to see that the decisions I make can have such a profound effect on my health and wellbeing.
5. Non-Scale Victories: Small But Important!
Although weight loss and health gain are main goals of my wellness endeavor, there have been other small, but important, improvements in my life.
These small victories are personal and may not make sense to other people (like crossing my legs or fitting into smaller jeans). But because they are meaningful, they really add to my motivation. Especially on those days when things just seem a little bit harder.
6. My Ultimate Goals: Continued Progress!
As I’ve mentioned before, I don’t have a final weight loss or size goal in mind yet. As I continue in this process, I will have to figure out what a good goal will be — a goal that would maximize my health.
But until then, I have a running list of Ultimate Goals that I like to check in with. Over the last 100 days, I’ve definitely made progress towards some of them, like no longer having body aches and being able to cross my legs comfortably.
The first, and one of the most important goals, is to be positive in body, mind and spirit.
Obviously this is an ongoing process, but there are definitely days when I feel like I have more body positivity that I did before. I certainly feel more grateful for what health I do have and the fact that my health is in my control. This is not the case for everyone. As I’ve mentioned before: despite what I’ve done to it, my body has continued to serve me well.
Overall, it’s good progress although there is still room for improvement. I will continue to check in with these goals and add to this list as needed.

- Tomorrow, I’ll post Part II of Day 100, where I’ll go into some more detail.
