Meaningful Mini-Goal #2 achieved!
Tomorrow is the 100th day of my wellness endeavor, and this morning I reached my second Meaningful Mini-Goal, which was 269.6 pounds or lower!
I still don’t have a final weight loss goal, partly because it seems so far away and I know that I still need to lose quite a bit to be optimally healthy. As I get closer, I’ll probably need to figure out the best final range.
Since I don’t have a final number, I decided to set smaller Mini-Goals along the way – numbers that had some meaning to me from over the course of my life. I thought that this may give me extra incentive to reach them.
- My first goal was 278 pounds – the lowest weight I can remember being in the last 2 to 3 years.
- My second goal was 269.6 pounds, which was my recorded weight on 7/21/14 during one of the times that I started yet another weight loss effort. (And this was after gaining 50 pounds in a three month period, which would be unbelievable if it wasn’t actually written it down.)
So — it’s time to set my third Meaningful Mini-Goal!
Meaningful Mini-Goal #3
Once again, I looked back to some of my records to see what my weight was doing at certain points of my life. I do wish that I had been more consistent in keeping track over the course of my life, but at least I have some numbers recorded from different points of my life.
This is actually the first time that I’ve paid such close attention to my previous numbers, and it’s been an interesting and helpful experience I think. I see it as a way to remember the challenges that I’ve faced but also to acknowledge my progress in health and wellness.
Anyway, the last recorded weight I have in the year 2014 was 249.4 pounds, so that will be my new Meaningful Mini-Goal.
I realize that this new goal is larger than previous ones and so it will take longer to get there. From today’s weight, it is exactly 19.6 pounds away. But I’m up for the challenge and the commitment it will take to get there. And as an added bonus, it will also put me on the other side of 250….and that is most definitely worth it!
249.4 pounds, here I come!
